Through Distractions
Short Poems
Through Distractions
There was a time we dealt with pain and grief,
Through distractions;
And seeing myself now;
None of that has changed;
I worry about my avoidance behavior;
My way of trying not to deal,
Through distractions;
And I wonder what will happen when it all bursts open;
Wounds we never tender nor take care of;
Parts of ourselves we abandon;
Just to avoid feeling;
Realities we do not want to make peace with.
